## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UPON A NORMAL LANDING, THE PILOT TOUCHED DOWN ON THE MAINS, HAD A SMALL BOUNCE, THEN TOUCHED DOWN AGAIN ON THE MAINS. AS THE PILOT BEGAIN TO LOWER THE TAIL, A GUST OF WIND CAUSED THE AIRPLANE TO BALLOON UP ABOUT 8 FEET. THE PILOT WENT TO ABOUT 50% POWER BUT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE. THE PILOT THEN ADDED FULL POWER BUT THE ENGINE HESITATED. AT THAT TIME THE LEFT WING RAISED AND THE RIGHT WING STRUCK THE GROUND. THE AIRPLANE SPUN AROUND IN A RIGHT 360 TO A STOP. THE AIRPLANE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND THE OCCUPANTS EVACUATED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN18LA286](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN18LA286), Jul 20, 2018: Vans RV6 (N306FR), Coldwater, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of control while landing a tailwheel-equipped airplane in gusting wind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
