## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE LANDING IN A LEFT CROSSWIND ON RUNWAY 18 OF THE KINSLEY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, KS (33K), PILOT LOST CONTROL AND THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RIGHT (WEST) SIDE OF RUNWAY AND CAME TO REST IN A DRAINAGE DITCH.

CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO ACCIDENT IS THE PILOTS FAILURE TO OBTAIN INFORMATION RELEVANT TO THE FLIGHT INCLUDING THE RUNWAY WIDTH AND LENGTH AS WELL AS THE LOCAL WINDS APPLICABLE TO THE CHOSEN AIRPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA439](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA439), Jul 20, 2018: Wayne D. Teel Waiex (N49YX), Kinsey, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll in gusting crosswind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
