## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC (SECOND PILOT) WAS PRACTICING INSTRUMENT APPROACHES FROM THE LEFT SEAT IN HIS AIRCRAFT. A SAFETY PILOT (THE INCIDENT PILOT) WAS SEATED IN THE RIGHT SEAT. AFTER 6 APPROACHES AND LANDINGS, THE PIC OFFERED THE SAFETY PILOT TO PERFORM A TAKEOFF AND LANDING SINCE HE HAD TAKEN THE TIME TO BE HIS SAFETY OBSERVER. STATEMENTS FROM BOTH PILOTS INDICATE THAT NOT ENOUGH TIME WAS AFFORDED FOR THE INCIDENT PILOT TO GET USED TO THE AIRCRAFT AND SET UP FOR A SUCCESSFUL LANDING. THROUGH VARIOUS DISTRACTIONS IT WAS ASSUMED THE GEAR WAS DOWN WHEN IT WAS NOT. AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE RUNWAY WHEELS UP AND SUSTAINED A PROP STRIKE. SAFETY PILOT DID HAVE A VALID COMPLEX AIRCRAFT ENDORSEMENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
