## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRPLANE WAS LANDING WITH A SLIGHT, VARIABLE, RIGHT CROSSWIND, BOUNCED TWICE THEN SETTLED DOWN ON MAIN WHEELS. WITH TAILWHEEL STILL OFF GROUND, IT DRIFTED OFF OF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND PARALLEL TAXIWAY. PILOT SAW AIRCRAFT AHEAD OF HIM ON TAXIWAY AND BRAKED ABRUPTLY CAUSING AIRPLANE TO FLIP TAIL OVER NOSE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA472](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA472), Aug 4, 2018: Cessna 140 (N1160D), Mount Holly, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper landing flare, which resulted in the airplane ballooning upon landing, and his subsequent loss of directional control and excessive brake application.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
