## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS FLYING AT 2,500 FT MSL ENROUTE TO KGAO, GALLIANO, LA AIRPORT. APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES EAST OF KHUM, HOUMA LA AIRPORT, HE EXPERIENCED A BIRD STRIKE. HE IMMEDIATELY TURNED TOWARDS THE HOUMA AIRPORT AND CALLED THE TOWER. THE TOWER CLEARED HIM TO LAND AND HE APPROACHED AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. HE EXPERIENCED NO ADVERSE FLIGHT CHARACTERISTICS ENROUTE TO LAND.

THE BIRD CONTACTED THE LEADING EDGE OF THE LEFT WING AT THE ROOT. IT CRUSHED THE FIBERGLASS FAIRING AND LODGED PARTIALLY INSIDE THE WING ROOT.

THE HOUMA AIRPORT MANAGER INITIATED HIS WILDLIFE PROTOCOL AND COLLECTED THE BIRD FOR ANALYSIS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
