## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 19, 2018 AT APPROXIMATELY 1927 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME, A CIRRUS SR-22T N1133T VEERED OFF RUNWAY (RWY)14 AFTER TOUCHDOWN AT THE GRANBURY REGIONAL AIRPORT (KGDJ). THE AIRPLANE HIT A BARBED WIRE FENCE, AND THE RUDDER CONTACTED AN ELEVATED DIRT MOUND AFTER MAIN LANDING GEAR ROLLED OVER IT. THE IMPACT OF THE RUDDER TO THE DIRT MOUND CAUSED THE AIRPLANE TO NEARLY SEVER IN TWO AT THE TAIL EMPENNAGE; THIS DAMAGE DESTROYED THE AIRCRAFT. THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR WAS ALSO DAMAGED AT THE AIRFRAME ATTACHMENT POINT AS A RESULT OF CONTACT WITH THE ELEVATED DIRT MOUND. MAIN THE PRIVATE PILOT WAS UNJURIED IN THE CRASH BUT SUSTAINED A CUT TO HIS LEG ON BARBED WIRE WHILE WALKING AWAY FROM THE AIRPLANE; THIS REQUIRED NO MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE AIRPLANE WAS REGISTERED TO AND OPERATED BY THE PILOT UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF TITLE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 91 AS A PERSONAL FLIGHT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT AND NO FLIGHT PLAN HAD BEEN FILED. THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ PILOT-IN-COMMAND WAS CONDUCTING IFR APPROACHES TO RWY14 IN FULL VFR AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN18LA341](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN18LA341), Aug 20, 2018: Cirrus SR22 (N1133T), Granbury, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during a crosswind landing, which resulted in the airplane exiting the runway and impacting a ditch, tree, and fence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
