## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE ATP RATED PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS FLYING N4842K A CE-P210N, FROM NEW PHILADELPHIA (PHD) TO URBANA (I74) ON A VFR FLIGHT PLAN. JUST EAST OF DELAWARE OHIO WHILE FLYING AT 2500 FEET ON AN APPROXIMATE HEADING OF 259 DEGREES, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ SAID THAT THE ENGINE STUTTERED AND QUIT. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED IN A CORN FIELD JUST SOUTH OF STATE ROUTE 36 EAST OF DELAWARE OHIO. THE MARKS IN THE CORN TO WHERE THE AIRCRAFT FINALLY CAME TO REST ARE ABOUT 50 YARDS ON A HEADING OF APPROXIMATELY 300 DEGREES. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON ITS TOP WITH THE NOSE POINTED IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF FLIGHT. THE PILOT AND HIS PASSENGER ESCAPED UN INJURED AND CONTACTED EMERGENCY SERVICES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN18LA351](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN18LA351), Aug 26, 2018: Cessna P210 (N4842K), Delaware, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate fuel management, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation. Contributing to the accident was the pilot’s distraction of the formation flight.

## Other reports on N4842K (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19920827039439I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920827039439I), Aug 27, 1992: Cessna P210N (N4842K), New London, NH, No damage. On go-around pilot retracted gear. Forgot to extend gear on landing until almost touching down.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
