## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRMAN DEPARTED KPRC WITH INTENTIONS TO REMAIN IN THE RIGHT TRAFFIC PATTERN FOR 21R. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT TURNED DOWNWIND, IT OVERSHOT DOWNWIND AND TURNED IN TOWARD THE RUNWAY. IT THEN CORRECTED BACK TO THE LEFT AT WHICH IT CLIMBED AS MUCH 700 FT. ABOVE THE TRAFFIC PATTERN. DURING THE BASE AND FINAL TURN, THE AIRCRAFT OVERSHOT THE FINAL APPROACH PATH AND APPEARED TO BE LINED UP ON THE TAXIWAY. THE CONTROL TOWER CONTACTED THE AIRMAN TO CONFIRM THEY WERE LINED UP WITH 21R AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THEY WERE. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED ON A DESCENT AND IMPACTED THE TERRAIN .4NM FROM THE APPROACH END OF 21R.
