## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

TWO PIPER SUPER CUBS FLEW OUT TO A GRAVEL STRIP NEAR CHICKALOON, AK. N5373Y DEPARTED FIRST WITH NO DIFFICULTY. N3372B HAD A PROP STRIKE ON TAXI. N5373Y RETURNED AN LANDED UNEVENTFULLY. THE PILOTS PLACED N3372B OFF THE GRAVEL STRIP AT MIDFIELD. ON THE TAKEOFF ROLE, N5373Y WAS UNABLE TO TRACK WITH THE BEND IN THE STRIP AND STRUCK THE PARKED N3372B CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA525](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA525), Sep 1, 2018: Piper PA18 (N5373Y), Palmer, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
