## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC WAS ATTEMPTING A BEACH LANDING. AFTER TOUCHDOWN, PIC ALLOWED THE NOSE WHEEL TO CONTACT THE BEACH PREMATURELY WHICH CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO GROUNDLOOP. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PIC WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO INCLUDE WINGS, NOSE GEAR STEERING LINKAGE, NOSE GEAR SUSPENSION STRUT, PROPELLER, AND A CREASE IN THE FUSELAGE AFT OF THE BAGGAGE DOOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA526](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA526), Sep 1, 2018: Cessna 172 (N3835S), Karluk, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain proper pitch for a soft-field landing, which resulted in a loss of airplane control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
