## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING TOUCHDOWN, THE PILOT LANDED AND HAD A SLIGHT BOUNCE. HE TOUCHED BACK DOWN AND WHILE KEEPING THE AIRCRAFT'S TAIL UP, A WIND GUST PUSHED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT. HE CORRECTED TO THE LEFT AND ADDED POWER TO TAKE-OFF. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE LEFT AND ONCE HE KNEW HE WAS GOING TO DEPART THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY HE PULLED POWER. THE PLANE ENDED UP HITTING A FENCE AND FLIPPING OVER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA522](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA522), Sep 2, 2018: Piper PA 12 (N4077M), Rexburg, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper landing flare, which resulted in the airplane bouncing and a subsequent loss of directional control, a runway excursion, and impact with a fence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
