## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2018, AT APPROXIMATELY 2145 PDT, A ROCKWELL COMMANDER 114TC, SINGLE ENGINE AIRPLANE IMPACTED DESERT TERRAIN APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE NORTH OF THE JEAN AIRPORT NEAR INTERSTATE I-15, AT JEAN, NEVADA. THE AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO HAVE IMPACTED THE GROUND AT A HIGH ANGLE AS THE WRECKAGE WAS CONFINED TO A SMALL AREA. INITIAL IDENTIFICATION OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS HAMPERED DUE TO THE EXTENT OF THE IMPACT DAMAGE AND POST IMPACT FIRE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS LATER IDENTIFIED BY A UTAH STATE TAX ID STICKER FOUND ON THE VERTICAL STABILIZER.

ON SEPTEMBER 6, 2018, THE CLARK COUNTY OFFICE OF THE CORONER, LAS VEGAS, NV, CONFIRMED THE IDENTITY OF THE PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR18FA253](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR18FA253), Sep 6, 2018: Commander 114 (N6064C), Jean, NV, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot failed to maintain adequate speed while maneuvering at a low attitude during night and entered an aerodynamic stall and subsequent spin.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
