## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FLIGHT ORIGINATED FROM HOOD RIVER (4S2) AT APPROXIMATELY 1730 LCL, EN ROUTE TO A PRIVATE AIRSTRIP IN GRASS VALLEY, OR. UPON LANDING, DURING TOUCH DOWN AND ROLL OUT, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY AND THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR STRUCK A PILE OF LARGE ROCKS. UPON IMPACT, THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT, CAUSING THE LEFT WING TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND AND SPIN THE AIRCRAFT TO A STOP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA569](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA569), Sep 16, 2018: Maule M7 (N760AC), Grass Valley, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
