## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CONDUCT AERIAL APPLICATION OF HERBICIDE ADJACENT TO A SET OF POWER LINES, THE PILOT STRUCK THE TOP OF A POWER LINE POLE WITH HIS RIGHT WING. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A SUBSEQUENT POWER LINE POLE BEFORE IMPACTING A NEARBY PASTURE AREA. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE PLANNED TO DO A SPRAY PASS PARALLEL TO THE POWER LINES AND WAS FOCUSING ON A POWER LINE POLE FURTHER AHEAD ON THE LINE AND THE HE CLIPPED THE POWER LINE POLE WHICH WAS ON HIGHER GROUND THAN THE POLE HE WAS FOCUSING ON. THE PILOT STATED THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER CONTRIBUTING FACTORS TO THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA18CA563](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA18CA563), Sep 21, 2018: Air Tractor AT802 (N968JB), Napoleon, ND, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain clearance from a power line pole during an agricultural application flight.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
