## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING A TRAINING FLIGHT A POP WAS HEARD AND THE AIRCRAFT STARTED EXPERIENCING FLIGHT CONTROL PROBLEMS. AIRCRAFT STARTED UNCOMMANDED ROLL TO THE RIGHT. THE INSTRUCTOR HAD TAKEN OVER CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT JUST PRIOR TO THE CONTROL ISSUE. LEFT AILERON WAS NEEDED TO CONTROL THE RIGHT ROLLING TENDENCY. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN ON THE LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY 11 AND THEN THE AIRCRAFT WENT RIGHT LEAVING THE RUNWAY AND STRIKING TREES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA18LA258](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA18LA258), Sep 22, 2018: Beech 35 (N435RB), Georgetown, SC, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of directional control during landing due to overstress failure of the left seat’s left rudder pedal arm clevis, which occurred as a result of manufacturing defects.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
