## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N116ND, A PIPER PA-28, ATTEMPED TO LAND AT LACONIA AIRPORT (LCI) IN GUSTY AND TURBULENT CONDITIONS AND LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT DURING THE LANDING FLARE. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE ATTEMPTED TO GO AROUND AFTER EXPERIENCING A GUST AND UPDRAFT MOMENTUM. THE PILOT ALSO STATED THAT AFTER THE INITIAL UPDRAFT THE AIRCRAFT SANK RAPIDLY AT WHICH TIME THE HE ADDED POWER AND ATTEMPTED TO MAINTAIN LEVEL FLIGHT AND CONTINUE THE LANDING. THE PILOT ALSO STATED THAT DURING THIS TIME THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO VEER LEFT OF THE RUNWAY SURFACE AND THE STALL HORN BEGAN TO SOUND. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE RESPONDED BY ADDING FULL POWER AND LOWERING THE NOSE TO AVERT A STALL. HOWEVER, THIS ACTION RESULTED IN THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTING A RUNWAY SIGN, A TAXIWAY LIGHT, AND THEN ANOTHER RUNWAY SIGN. THESE IMPACTS AND THE RESULTANT ANGULAR CONTACT WITH THE GROUND RESULTED IN SEPARATION OF THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR STRUT FROM THE GEAR MOUNT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 30 FEET AND AT A 120 DEGREE ANGLE FROM RUNWAY 26 .

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
