## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2018, A MAULE M-7-235B, REGISTERED AS N10555, SERIAL NUMBER 23055C, WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AT ROGUE VALLEY INTERNATIONAL ? MEDFORD AIRPOT (KMFR) IN MEDFORD, OREGON. THE ACCIDENT RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

THE AIRCRAFT IS REGISTERED TO AEROMARINE PUBLISHING CORP, LOCATED AT 136 LAKESHORE DR APT G21, NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA.

THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS FLYING WITH ONE PASSENGER FROM PEARSON FIELD AIRPORT (KVUO) IN VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON TO KMVR. HE EXPLAINED THAT AFTER ACQUIRING ATIS AND A CLEARANCE TO LAND ON RUNWAY 32 FROM AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL (ATC) HE NOTED THAT THE WINDS WERE STRONGER THAN THE REPORTED 7 KNOTS. HE ACCOMPLSIHED A NORMAL LANDING, BUT AFTER BEGINNING A TURN TO JOIN TAXIWAY A2 HE EXPERIENCED A STRONG GUST OF WIND FROM THE LEFT. HE FURTHER EXPLAINED THAT THE GUST OF WIND LIFTED THE LEFT WING AND TURNED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT. TO HIS RECOLLECTION, HE APPLIED FULL LEFT AILERON, RUDDER, AND BRAKE IN AN EFFORT TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. IN AN ATTEMPT TO LOWER THE LEFT WING HE STATED THAT HE APPLIED POWER AND TRIED TO KEEP THE PLANE TURNED INTO THE GUSTS. WHILE APPLYING CORRECTIONS THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A TAXIWAY SIGN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA19CA007](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA19CA007), Oct 6, 2018: Maule M7 (N10555), Medford, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
