## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED HENRY COUNTY AIRPORT (KHMP) FOR A LANDING ZONE

SURVEY FLIGHT FOR AN UPCOMING AIRSHOW AT ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY. THE SURVEY FLIGHT WAS TO EVALUATE THE VIABILITY OF LANDING THE AIRCRAFT ON THE INFIELD SECTION OF THE TRACK TO FACILITATE THE AIRSHOW PERFORMANCE. SEVERAL PASSES WERE MADE TO EVALUATE THE OBSTACLE HEIGHT AND LOCATION IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA ON THE TRACK PROPERTY. DURING AN APPROACH TO THE LANDING AREA, THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED A POWER LINE. THE PILOT IMMEDIATELY VACATED THE TRACK AREA AND AFTER A QUICK CONTROLLABILITY CHECK RETURNED TO THE AIRPORT. A NORMAL LANDING WAS MADE AT HENRY COUNTY AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED DAMAGE TO THE LEFT LOWER WING LEADING EDGE, THE LEFT UPPER WING LEADING EDGE, AND THE TRAILING EDGE OF BOTH LEFT AILERONS. NO INJURIES OCCURRED TO THE PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA19CA021](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA19CA021), Oct 9, 2018: Aviat S (N126BB), Hampton, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to see and avoid power wires during approach.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
