## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT LEFT OUT OF GLENDALE (GEU) AIRPORT BOUND FOR PAYSON (PAN) AIRPORT AT APPROXIMATELY 1813 MST. THE AIRCRAFT IS EQUIPPED WITH ADS-B AND ITS FLIGHT TRACK WAS RECORDED IN ?FLIGHT AWARE? APPLICATION. REVIEW OF THE FLIGHT TRACK INDICATES THE AIRCRAFT CRUISE ALTITUDE WAS APROX 7500. THE AIRCRAFT APPEARS TO HAVE ENTERED THE PATTERN AT PAN APPROX. 1840 MST IN A NORMAL DOWNWIND, BASE AND FINAL APPROACH FOR RUNWAY 24 WHEN THE TRACK STOPS FORWARD MOVEMENT ABOUT ¾ OF A MILE FROM THE ARRIVAL END OF THE RUNWAY.

THE LOCAL PAYSON POLICE WERE NOTIFIED THAT AN AIRCRAFT HAD CRASHED INTO A HOUSE JUST TO THE EAST OF THE AIRPORT AT APPROXIMATELY 1840 MST.

THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED INTO A RESIDENTIAL HOUSE WHICH HAD A SOLE OCCUPANT AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. LATER INVESTIGATION CONFIRMS THAT THE FLIGHT PATH ANGLE WAS MOSTLY VERTICAL WITH THE AIRCRAFT TRAVELING THRU THE TOP OF THE ROOF AND COMING TO REST IN A BEDROOM LOCATED DIRECTLY BEHIND THE GARAGE WITH THE ENGINE AND FORWARD PORTION OF THE AIRCRAFT PARTIALLY LODGED THRU THE SUBFLOOR OF THE HOUSE.

THE OWNER OF THE HOUSE WAS IN A ROOM 30 FEET AWAY AND WAS NOT INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT.

THE PILOT AND PASSENGER ABOARD THE AIRCRAFT WERE KILLED UPON IMPACT.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED IN THE IMPACT. THERE WAS NO POST-CRASH FIRE. THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED AND SHUT DOWN POWER, WATER, AND GAS SUPPLIES TO THE HOUSE. THEY KEPT EVERYONE CLEAR OF THE SITE FOR SEVERAL HOURS BECAUSE OF HEAVY (AVGAS) GAS FUMES IN THE HOUSE.

EXAMINATION OF THE AIRCRAFT WRECKAGE WAS PERFORMED. ALL PARTS OF THE AIRCRAFT WERE RECOVERED AT THE WRECKAGE SITE. ALL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND ITS SYSTEMS APPEAR TO HAVE OCCURRED AT THE TIME OF IMPACT AND DURING THE TIME THE AIRCRAFT WAS REMOVED FROM THE HOUSE. THE ENGINE WAS EXAMINED AND DETERMINED TO HAVE BEEN RUNNING AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF AIRFRAME OR ENGINE FAILURE PRIOR TO IMPACT WITH THE HOUSE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR19FA007](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR19FA007), Oct 14, 2018: Cessna T240 (N433CS), Payson, AZ, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's exceedance of the airplane's critical angle of attack while maneuvering for landing, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall/spin and a subsequent loss of control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
