## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 14, 2018, N73345 WAS OPERATING ON A PERSONAL SIGHTSEEING FLIGHT THAT DEPARTED FROM BURLINGTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KBTV). THE PILOT IN COMMAND ELECTED TO LAND AT BASIN HARBOR (B06) FOR A PHYSIOLOGICAL BREAK. B06 IS A SINGLE RUNWAY GRASS AIRPORT. AFTER LANDING ON RUNWAY 20, N73345 BACK TAXIED ON RUNWAY 20 TOWARDS THE RESTAURANT AND PARKING AREA. AT APPROXIMATELY 1145 LOCAL TIME, N73345 STRUCK A PINE TREE WITH THE LEFT WING WHILE TAXIING BACK TO THE RESTAURANT AND PARKING AREA. THE IMPACT WITH THE TREE SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED THE AIRCRAFT, AND THE PILOT IN COMMAND, THE ONLY PERSON ON BOARD, WAS UNINJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA19CA024](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA19CA024), Oct 14, 2018: Cessna 172 (N73345), Vergennes, VT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from trees while taxiing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
