## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 10/19/2018, STUDENT PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, TAXIED PIPER WARRIOR N8222N TO THE SOUTH OF A CONSTRUCTION ZONE OF THE MAIN RAMP AT GREENE COUNTY AIRPORT, WAYNESBURG, PA. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT IN AN EFFORT TO REMAIN CLEAR OF THE ORANGE CONSTRUCTION CONES, TO HIS LEFT, HE FAILED TO AVOID A CEMENT FILLED METAL POLE, TO HIS RIGHT. THE RIGHT WING STRUCK THE POLE NEAR THE OUTER TIP DAMAGING THE LEADING EDGE AND CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO PIVOT TO THE RIGHT FORCING THE PROPELLER AND SPINNER INTO A CYCLONE FENCED GATE. THE PROPELLER BLADES AND SPINNER WERE SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGED AND THE ENGINE SUFFERED A SUDDEN STOPAGE. ADDITIONAL DAMAGE EXISTS AT THE TRAILING EDGE OF THE RIGHT WING ROOT WHERE THE RIGHT FLAP INBOARD END WAS FORCED INTO THE FUSELAGE. THERE WAS ADDITIONAL DAMAGE AT THE FLOOR INSIDE THE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA19CA082](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA19CA082), Oct 19, 2018: Piper PA28 (N8222N), Waynesburg, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's improper decision to maneuver the airplane through an area of construction and his subsequent failure to maintain clearance from a concrete pole barrier while taxiing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
