## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT 5:00 PM ON OCT 23, 2018 THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ PILOT DEPARTED KJHN FOR A LOCAL FLIGHT IN N124XS MOTORGLIDER.

AFTER APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES WHILE PREPARING TO LAND AND UPON LANDING GEAR EXTENSION, THE GEAR LIGHTS INDICATED RIGHT GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED (GREEN) AND LEFT GEAR IN TRANSIT AND UNSAFE (RED).

THE PILOT CLIMBED BACK TO ALTITUDE AND CYCLED THE GEAR SEVERAL MORE TIMES IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET THE UNSAFE GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED. HE ALSO MADE SEVERAL YAW MANEUVERS WITH NO POSITIVE RESULTS. THE PILOT RETURNED TO THE AIRPORT AND PERFORMED A SUCCESSFUL GEAR UP LANDING RESULTING IN MINOR DAMAGE ONLY TO THE LOWER FUSELAGE, PROP, EXHAUST, & PITOT TUBE. NO PILOT INJURIES AND NO DAMAGE TO THE RUNWAY OCCURRED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
