## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 25, 2018, PILOT IN COMMAND ^DANIEL WILLETS^ LANDED A ZLIN AVIATION SRO SAVAGE SPORT PLANE IN A FIELD NEAR A WAL-MART AND AFTER LANDING DAMAGED THE PROPELLER OF THE AIRCRAFT. ^MR. WILLETS^ STATED THAT HE WAS PRACTICING SHORT FIELD LANDINGS IN A FIELD THAT HE HAD PERMISSION TO LAND IN FROM THE OWNER OF THE FIELD. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE FIELD HAD SOYBEAN CROPS THAT WERE 18 INCHES HIGH. THE OWNER OF THE FIELD, ^MARSHALL WHITEHURST^ WAS CONTACTED AND ^MR. WHITEHURST^ STATED THAT HE DID NOT GIVE ANYONE PERMISSION TO LAND ANYWHERE ON HIS PROPERTY.

THE OWNER OF THE AIRCRAFT ^MR. CHARLES LEWIS^ STATED ON A PHONE CONVERSATION THAT HE REPLACED THE DAMAGED PROPELLER AND ^DANIEL WILLETS^ FLEW THE PLANE OUT OF THE FIELD AND BACK TO SOUTH OAKS AERODROME (05N) WHICH ALSO BELONGS TO THE OWNER OF THE AIRCRAFT ^MR. LEWIS^. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT ^MR. CHARLES LEWIS^ DOES NOT HAVE A MECHANIC CERTIFICATE TO WORK ON THE AIRPLANE.

^MR. LEWIS^ IS ALSO ^DANIEL WILLET'S^ PREVIOUS FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR. ^MR. LEWIS^ STATED THAT HE USED A BUSH HOG TO CUT DOWN THE SOYBEANS IN ORDER FOR THE AIRCRAFT TO TAKE OFF.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
