## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC REPORTS THAT UPON ENTERING THE LANDING FLARE, THE LEFT WING SUDDENLY DROPPED CAUSING GROUND CONTACT BY THE LEFT WINGTIP AND LEFT FLAP. PIC WAS UNAWARE THAT THE WINGTIP AND FLAP HAD STRUCK THE SURFACE UNTIL QUERIED BY A PASSENGER. AFTER FLAPS WERE RETRACTED, PIC COULD SEE DAMAGE. AIRCRAFT WAS TAXIED TO HANGAR. WINDS WERE REPORTED CALM 3 MINUTES PRIOR TO EVENT, AND SOUTHERLY AT 10 KNOTS 7 MINUTES AFTER THE EVENT. PIC REPORTS TURBULENCE DURING DESCENT, BUT NOT DURING FINAL LANDING SEQUENCE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA19CA061](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA19CA061), Nov 2, 2018: Socata TBM 700 (N850TJ), Corvallis, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain lateral control of the airplane during landing, which resulted in a wing strike.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
