## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

SHORTLY AFTER TAKE OFF DURING THE CLIMB THE ENGINE RPM DID NOT EXCEED 2200 RPM AND THE AIRCRAFT WOULD NO LONGER CLIMB. PILOT STARTED TO TROUBLE SHOOT THE PROBLEM THINKING IT MIGHT BE A FUEL DELIVERY ISSUE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RETURN TO THE AIRPORT PILOT REALIZED HE COULD NOT MAKE THE FIELD AND LANDED IN A FIELD JUST OUTSIDE THE AIRPORT. SHORTLY AFTER LANDING THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A ROCK CAUSING THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR TO COLLAPSE. THE DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT CAUSED A FIRE DESTROYING THE AIRCRAFT. PILOTS SUSTAINED NO INJURES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR19LA023](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR19LA023), Nov 10, 2018: Vans RV7A (N5433T), Ramona, CA, destroyed. Probable cause: The partial loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined based on the available information.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
