## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING A FULL DOWN PRACTICE AUTOROTATION, THE HELICOPTER TOUCHED DOWN WITH APPROXIMATELY 30 KNOTS OF GROUND SPEED. AFTER GROUND CONTACT, THE HELICOPTER STARTED DRIFTING RIGHT. THE STUDENT PILOT WHO WAS ON-THE-CONTROLS TRIED TO CORRECT THE RIGHT DRIFT BY APPLYING LEFT PEDAL AND LEFT LATERAL CYCLIC. AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, THE INSTRUCTOR GOT ON THE CONTROLS TO ASSIST IN CONTROLLING THE HELICOPTER. THE CONTROL INPUTS HAD NO EFFECT ON CONTROLLING THE SLIDE OF THE HELICOPTER. AFTER SLIDING APPROXIMATELY 210 FEET WHILE DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT, THE HELICOPTER CONTACTED THE SOD ON THE RIGHT EDGE OF THE RUNWAY WHICH CAUSED IT TO SPIN 170 DEGREES WITH A RIGHT YAW AND SUBSEQUENTLY ROLLED ONTO ITS LEFT SIDE. DURING THE MANEUVER, NEITHER THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR NOR THE STUDENT PILOT NOTED ANY MECHANICAL DEFICIENCIES WITH THE HELICOPTER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA19CA056](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA19CA056), Nov 13, 2018: Guimbal Cabri (N370PA), Newberg, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot under instruction's failure to maintain directional control and the flight instructor's delayed remedial action.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
