## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT OF N947DS WAS LANDING HIS EXPERIMENTAL LIGHT SPORT AIRCRAFT ON RUNWAY 21 AT HESPERIA AIRPORT (L26) WHEN THE AIRPLANE BOUNCED AND BEGAN PORPOISING DOWN THE RUNWAY. ATTEMPTS TO RECOVER WERE UNSUCCESSFUL, WHICH RESULTED IN A RUNWAY EXCURSION OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRPLANE SUBSEQUENTLY COLLIDED WITH A HANGAR, WHICH RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA19CA090](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA19CA090), Dec 8, 2018: Zenair CH 750 Cruzer (N947DS), Hesperia, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper landing flare, which resulted in hard, bounced landing, runway excursion, and impact with a hangar.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
