## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT (PIC) DEPARTED VFR FROM KBTV VFR ON HIS WAY TO KPTB FERRYING THE AIRCRAFT FOR THE OWNER. PILOT INDIACATED EVERY THING WAS OK ON THE TAKE OFF. GEAR CAME UP FINE ALL LIGHTS WERE OUT. AT ABOUT 3500 FEET PIC DECIDED TO RUN THROUGH CHECKS AGAIN ON THE AIRPLANE WHILE PIC WAS CLOSE TO THE AIRPORT. PIC DECIDED TO RECYCLE THE GEAR. WHEN PIC PUT THE GEAR HANDLE DOWN HE HEARD A BIG BANG AND FELT IT UNDER THE SEAT. WITHIN A SECOND OR TWO BLACK SMOKE STARTED TO COME OUT FROM UNDER THE FLOOR BELOW THE SEAT. THE CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR THE LANDING GEAR AND FLAPS HAD TRIPPED. PIC STARTED BACK TO BTV IMMEDIATELY. PIC TRIED TO PUT THE GEAR DOWN AND RESET THE CIRCUIT BREAKER ONCE, NOTHING HAPPENED. INDICATED HE FOLLOWED THE EMERGENCY GEAR EXTENSION CHECKLIST, TO GET THE GEAR DOWN. PIC PROCEED TO CRANK UNTIL THE CRANK WOULD NOT TURN ANYMORE WHERE THE PIC INDICATED HE HAD ONLY NOSE WHEEL AND LEFT MAIN GREEN LIGHTS. THE RIGHT GREEN LIGHT WOULD NOT COME ON. HE THEN THEN PROCEED WITH A LOW PASS FOR GROUND CREW AND TOWER TO LOOK AND THE GEAR. TOWER AND BURLINGTON OPS SAID IT LOOKED DOWN. PIC THEN PROCEEDED TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT. PIC TOUCHED DOWN VERY SOFT ON THE LEFT MAIN. KEEP ALL THE WEIGHT OFF THE RIGHT AS LONG AS HE COULD. RIGHT MAIN TOUCHED DOWN AND HE HELD THE WEIGHT OF THE AIRCRAFT. PIC DIDN'T USE THE BRAKES OR TURN AT ALL. AIRCRAFT SLOWED ALL THE WAY DOWN TO ABOUT 15 OR 20 KNOTS AND THE RIGHT MAIN THEN COLLAPSED. PIC USED THE LEFT BRAKE AT THAT POINT TO HELP STOP IT. PIC THEN SECURED THE AIRCRAFT FUEL AND ELECTRICAL AND EXITED THE AIRCRAFT. AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST INTO THE INERSECTION OF RWY 15 & RWY 19.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
