## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE CFI AND HIS STUDENT WERE ABOUT TO PRACTICE THE STUDENTS FIRST LANDING WHEN ON FINAL APPROACH TO CHINO (CNO) AIRPORT, WITH LITTLE HELP FROM THE CFI THE STUDENT FLAIRED THE AIRCRAFT AND LANDED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CENTERLINE OF RUNWAY 26R. THE CFI STATES THAT HE BELIEVES THE LANDING WAS A LITTLE TOO FAST AND THAT IN ORDER TO CORRECT FROM LANDING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY, THE STUDENT ADDED EITHER LEFT BRAKE OR LEFT RUDDER. THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TO SKID ALMOST INSTANTLY. THE CFI APPLIED FULL RIGHT RUDDER BUT THE AIRCRAFT HAD ALREADY SKIDDED TOO FAR LEFT AND BY THE TIME HE GOT THE AIRCRAFT STRAIGHT THEY WERE OFF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE 21-3 RUNWAY SIGN AND FLIPPED OVER NOSE DOWN.
