## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DECEMBER 18, 2018, N4886B EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE PROBLEM. AN EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED IN A SUGAR CANE FIELD ON A SERVICE ROAD. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF THE ROAD DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND FLIPPED OVER. 2 OCCUPANTS WERE UNINJURED. INVESTIGATION INTO THE CAUSE OF ENGINE FAILURE WAS A BROKEN VALVE WASHER WHICH RESULTED IN THE INTAKE VALVE BECOMING STUCK IN THE VALVE GUIDE. THE NTSB WAS SENT THE DEFECTIVE PARTS REQUESTED AND THERE WAS A DETERMINATION THAT AN INCORRECT PART NUMBER VALVE WAS USED IN THE OVERHAUL OF THE CYLINDER. AN INVESTIGATION IS CURRENTLY UNDERWAY WITH THE CYLINDER OVERHAUL REPAIR FACILITY BY FAA AIRWORTHINESS.

UPON INVESTIGATION INTO THE EMERGENCY PROCEDURES THAT THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND (PIC) EXECUTED, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PIC LANDED ON THE ROAD WITH A RIGHT QUARTERING TAILWIND. THIS QUARTERING TAILWIND EXACERBATED THE PIC'S INABILITY TO MAINTAIN ALIGNMENT WITH THE ACCESS ROAD CENTERLINE WHICH RESULTED IN VEERING FROM THE ROAD AND FLIPPING OVER DESTROYING THE AIRCRAFT.
