## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT HAWTHORNE MUNICIPAL (HHR), PILOT STOPPED AT SEZ (SEDONA) FOR GAS. WHILE DEPARTING FROM SEZ, THE DOOR OPENED ON CLIMB OUT. A DECISION WAS MADE TO RETURN TO SEZ, APPROACH WAS UNSTABLE, THE PILOT ELECTED TO GO-AROUND, BUT A CONCERN WITH THE ENGINE, MADE THE PILOT ABORT THE GO-AROUND. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED LONG WITH A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT, AIRCRAFT RAN OUT OF RUNWAY, WENT THROUGH PERIMETER FENCE AND CAME TO REST ON AT BEGININING OF DOWNWARD SLOPE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA19CA102](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA19CA102), Dec 19, 2018: Beech 36 (N636M), Sedona, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain the proper airspeed during landing, which resulted in the airplane landing too fast and too far down the runway to safely stop it.

## Other reports on N636M (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19810528031229A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19810528031229A), May 28, 1981: Beech A36 (N636M), Bakersfield, CA, Substantial damage. Pilot forgot to use emergency gear lowering system to lower landing gear. Landed gear up.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
