## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER REVIEW OF DAMAGE AND SPEAKING WITH PILOT. IT APPEARS THE FORWARD NOSE GEAR DOOR BECAME DISCONNECTED FROM THE NOSE GEAR ATTACH POINT. DURING LANDING GEAR EXTENSION, THE NOSE GEAR WAS RESTRICTED BY THE FORWARD NOSE GEAR DOOR BEING PUSHED CLOSED BY AIRFLOW. (NORMALLY THIS DOOR WOULD MECHANICALLY BE PUSHED OPEN BY THE CONNECTION TO THE GEAR LEG) THE ATTACH PIN WAS NOT LOCATED, SO WE ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF THE PIN FAILED, OR IF IT WAS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED.

## Other reports on N1863Q (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19890608036389I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19890608036389I), Jun 8, 1989: Cessna 177RG (N1863Q), Minor damage. Pilot forgot to lower landing gear and landed with gear retracted.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
