## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED JUST BEFORE TOUCHDOWN, HE NOTICED A ROCK STICKING THROUGH THE SNOW AND TRIED TO MAKE A SLIGHT COURSE ADJUSTMENT TO THE LEFT AVOID THE ROCK. THE AIRPLANE CONTACTED THE GROUND WITH LEFT SKI FIRST AND BOUNCED. WHEN THE RIGHT SKI CONTACTED THE GROUND, THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT STRAIGHT WITH THE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL. THE RIGHT SKI EDGE CAUGHT THE SNOW, IT FOLDED THE GEAR LEG UNDER. THE RIGHT WING CONTACTED THE GROUND AND BROKE THE SPARS OUTBOARD OF THE WING STRUT. A REVIEW OF FAA DATA SHOWS THE PILOT'S LAST MEDICAL EXAM WAS IN 1995.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA19CA155](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA19CA155), Mar 2, 2019: Champion 8GCBC (N53910), Palmer, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain lateral control during landing, which resulted in the left ski impacting snow and a subsequent bounce and loss of directional control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
