## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING CRUISE AT 6500 MSL, APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES SW OF DEPARTURE AIRPORT, THE AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. THE PIC PERFORMED THE PROPER EMERGENCY PROCEDURES AND ELECTED TO RETURN TO DEPARTURE AIRPORT. WITH A ALTERNATE FUEL SOURCE SELECTED THE ENGINE LOST POWER AGAIN AND THE PIC ELECTED TO LAND AT THE NEAREST AVAILABLE AIRPORT. UPON A GUSTY CROSSWIND LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT LOST CONTROL AND THE NOSE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN19LA126](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN19LA126), Apr 19, 2019: Piper PA28 (N838JH), Dwight, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: A partial loss of engine power due to a restriction in fuel flow for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
