AFTER TOUCHDOWN, HE STATED HE APPLIED THE BRAKES, WHICH WERE FRESH, AND THE AIRCRAFT TIPPED OVER ITS NOSE AND FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN. PILOT STATED HE HAD NOT FLOWN THE AIRCRAFT IN THE LAST 12 YEARS. AIRCRAFT IS EQUIPPED WITH HEEL BRAKES; PILOT STATED HE MUST HAVE HAD HIS FEET ON THE BRAKES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA19CA240](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA19CA240), May 3, 2019: Luscombe 8 (N22052), Orofino, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper brake application during the landing roll, which resulted in a nose-over. Contributing to the accident was the pilot's lack of recent experience using heel brakes.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
