## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

STUDENT 1ST SOLO, DEPARTED WITHOUT A CLEARANCE FOR CLOSED TRAFFIC PATTERN. UPON LANDING THE AIRMAN EXITED THE RUNWAY TOO FAST AND STRUCK A SIGN SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGING THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA19CA488](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA19CA488), Aug 8, 2019: Cessna 152 (N65401), Hollywood, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's improper decision to turn off the runway while the airplane was moving too fast after landing, which resulted in a runway excursion and impact with a taxiway sign.

## Other reports on N65401 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20090905025429I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20090905025429I), Sep 5, 2009: Cessna 152 (N65401), Immokalee, FL, Minor damage. Student pilot on 1st cross country solo landed at Immokalee Airport (kimm) during a thunderstorm and a gust of wind blew aircraft off runway on touchdown.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
