## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE IN CRUISE FLIGHT OVER THE ESCAMBIA RIVER THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD AN EMERGENCY BUT COULD NOT REMEMBER WHAT THAT EMERGENCY WAS. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK POWER LINES. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON A NEARBY SANDBAR. ONCE LANDING ON THE SANDBAR, THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER AND CAME TO REST INVERTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA19LA246](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA19LA246), Aug 13, 2019: Cessna 172 (N84287), Jay, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper decision to fly over a river at a very low altitude, which resulted in a collision with power lines.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
