## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FAA RECEIVED ANONYMOUS NOTIFICATION OF ACCIDENT IN STARR COUNTY AND PROVIDED AIRCRAFT OWNERS NUMBER. CONTACTED OWNER WHO STATED HE DID NOT REPORT ACCIDENT DUE TO AIRCRAFT HAS BEEN MOVED AND WILL BE SCRAPPED. REQUESTED PILOTS INFORMATION. PILOT STATED WAS REPOSITION FLIGHT TO RANCH. DURING CRUISE ENGINE OVERHEAT OCCURRED AND POWER LOSS BEGAN. PERFORMED EMERGENCY LANDING AND AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER. PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT BEING REPORTED, PILOT AND OWNER CUT AIRCRAFT UP AND LOADED ON A TRAILER AND PILED IN SCRAPPED YARD ON RANCH. INSPECTION REVEALED NO OBVIOUS SIGNS OF CAUSE, DUE TO ACCESS TO ENGINE AND IT HAD BEEN LEFT UPSIDE DOWN STILL COWLED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN19LA275](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN19LA275), Aug 15, 2019: Cessna 150 (N150CR), Rio Grande City, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power following an increase in oil temperature for undetermined reasons during cruise flight, which resulted in a forced landing on unsuitable terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
