## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

CRASHED DURING APPROACH TO RTS ENGINE STOPPED AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED BY PILOT AS STATED TO RENO POLICE AT THE SCENE AND PILOT ELECTED TO LAND ON THE HILLSIDE AND NOT ON THE ROAD BECAUSE OF CARS ON THE ROAD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR19LA243](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR19LA243), Aug 26, 2019: Mooney M20C (N78988), Reno, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper inflight fuel management, which resulted in fuel starvation and a total loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
