## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AN EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR BUILT CIMINO VANS RV8 AIRPLANE, WAS DESTROYED WHEN IT COLLIDED WITH TERRAIN. THE PRIVATE PILOT AND THE PILOT-RATED PASSENGER WERE FATALLY INJURED. THE AIRPLANE WAS REGISTERED TO THE PILOT (AND TWO CO-OWNERS) AND OPERATED BY THE PILOT UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF TITLE 14 CFR PART 91 AS A PERSONNEL FLIGHT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED FOR THE LOCAL FLIGHT THAT DEPARTED THE PEGASUS AIR PARK (50PA).

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA19FA275](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA19FA275), Sep 17, 2019: Vans RV 8 (N7TL), Stroudsburg, PA, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
