## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT TOOK OFF WITH VERY LITTLE WIND. WHEN HE LANDED HE VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY AND WENT INTO A PLOWED FIELD. AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE AIRPLANE HE NOTICED THE WIND HAD PICKED UP. THE NEXT PLANE TO LAND HAD LANDED IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THE PILOT INDICATED THAT THIS IS THE ONLY REASON HE COULD HAVE VEERED OFF. THE PILOT HAD HIS MECHANIC LOOK AT THE AIRCRAFT AND FOUND NO ISSUES THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE NOSE WHEEL TO FAIL CAUSING A STEERING ISSUE. HE INDICATED THAT HE OBVIOUSLY MADE A MISTAKE.

## Other reports on N16LS (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19850707060069I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19850707060069I), Jul 7, 1985: Blanca 14193 (N16LS), Islip, NY, Minor damage. On rollout, gear retracted by pilot instead of flaps. Realized error but gear had started to retract.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
