## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRMAN'S EMPLOYER HIRED AN EXPERIENCED PILOT TO GIVE ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION TO THE AIRMAN BECAUSE THEY FELT HE WAS UNSAFE. THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT. THE PLAN WAS A REVIEW OF STALLS, FALLING LEAF, AND LANDINGS IN A TAIL WHEEL AIRCRAFT SINCE THAT IS WHAT THE AIRMAN TYPICALLY FLIES. THE FLIGHT DEPARTED WEST BOUND OUT OF NORTH PERRY AIRPORT AT A PRELIMINARY ALTITUDE BETWEEN 1500 AND 1800 FEET. UPON REACHING THE EVERGLADES, ALTITUDES VARIED BETWEEN 200 AND 400 FEET. SHORTLY AFTER, RADAR CONTACT WAS LOST, AND THE AIRCRAFT SUBSEQUENTLY CRASHED INTO THE EVERGLADES SERIOUSLY INJURING BOTH PILOTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA20FA003](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA20FA003), Oct 5, 2019: Champion 7ECA (N2561G), Pembroke Pines, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to relinquish the airplane controls to the instructor during a power-off stall maneuver, which prevented the instructor’s recovering from the stall.

## Other reports on N2561G (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19870328014769I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19870328014769I), Mar 28, 1987: Bbavia 7ECA (N2561G), Healdsburg, CA, Minor damage. Left landing gear collapsed during taxi. Found a broken and corroded bolt.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
