## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT (POWERED PARACHUTE) DEPARTED HUNTINGTON, UTAH AIRPORT WITH 4 OTHER AIRCRAFT ENROUTE TO SID AND CHARLEY MONUMENT, WHICH IS ABOUT AN HOUR FLIGHT TO THE SOUTH. ALL 5 AIRCRAFT LANDED UNEVENTFULLY. DURING DEPARTURE FROM SID AND CHARLEY, ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT CLIMBED TO APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET WHEN THE PILOT RADIOED THAT HE HAD A PROBLEM. WITNESSES SAW THE AIRCRAFT IN A DESCENDING LEFT HAND TURN THAT APPEARED TO BECOME INCREASINGLY TIGHTER. THEY ALSO NOTICED THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PARACHUTE DEFLECTING DOWNWARD. THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED INTO A GULLY FATALLY INJURING THE PILOT.

WITNESSES STATED THAT AFTER INITIAL LANDING THEY HAD TO TURN THEIR AIRCRAFT BACK INTO THE WIND FOR TAKE-OFF.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR20LA001](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR20LA001), Oct 5, 2019: Buckeye Breeze (N582UT), Moore, UT, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper preflight inspection and detection of a pinch point in the steering line, which resulted in a loss of control in flight and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
