## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

YOUNG EAGLES FLIGHT. DURING TAKEOFF TRANSITION TO FLIGHT AT THE RUNWAY MIDPOINT THE AIRCRAFT STARTED A ROLL TO THE RIGHT CAUSING THE RIGHT WING TIP TO CONTACT THE GROUND. THE NOSE DROPPED AND THE PROP STRUCK THE GROUND WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO CAUSE THE CARBURETOR TO SEPARATE. AT THIS POINT THE AIRCRAFT STARTED AN INCREASING SPIN TO THE RIGHT AT WHICH POINT THE LEFT WING CONTACTED THE GROUND AND THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO SPIN TO THE RIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED ITS SPIN FOR 1 REVOLUTION AND CAME TO A STOP AT THE RUNWAY NORTH SIDE TREE LINE. THE FLIGHT CONTROLS WERE INTACT. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE DID NOT FEEL THE PASSENGER ON THE CONTROLS. BOTH WINGS, TAIL GEAR STRUTS, LOWER COWLING, ENGINE AND PROPELLER ARE DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA20CA026](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA20CA026), Oct 12, 2019: Llewellyn, Warwinc W Vans RV-4 (N15WL), Lusby, MD, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain lateral control during takeoff, which resulted in impact with terrain and a subsequent cartwheel.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
