## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

A/C WAS ENROUTE FROM KPVD TO KFRG, ESTABLISHED IN CRUISE AT 3,500' MSL. ABOUT 20 MINUTES AFTER DEPARTURE, THE PILOT HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THE PROPELLER STOPPED INSTANTLY. THE PILOT CONDUCTED A FORCED LANDING ON A HIGHWAY IN THE DARK. THE PILOT DID NOT LOWER THE LANDING GEAR. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND NO DAMAGE TO OTHER VEHICLES OR STRUCTURES. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE BELLY AS A RESULT OF THE GEAR-UP LANDING. UPON INSPECTION, THE ENGINE HAD MULTIPLE HOLES AND CRACKS IN THE CRANKCASE, ONE OF WHICH WAS APPROX. 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER ABOVE THE NUMBER 4 CONNECTING ROD AREA. THE ENGINE SHOWED EVIDENCE OF INTERNAL COMPONENT FAILURE. THE ENGINE STILL HAD 6 QUARTS OF OIL IN THE SUMP.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
