## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING CRUISE AT 1100' AGL, THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER/ENGINE FAILURE. THE EXPERIMENTAL, AMATEUR BUILT AIRCRAFT IS EQUIPPED WITH A MAZDA 13B, FUEL INJECTED ENGINE. THE SUBJECT AIRCRAFT LAST HAD A CONDITION INSPECTION COMPLETED ON 11/01/2019.

THE PILOT ATTEMPTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING INTO A COTTON FIELD AND THE PLANE ULTIMATELY FLIPPED OVER AND CAME TO REST INVERTED DUE TO THE LANDING GEAR DIGGING INTO THE SOFT SOIL OF THE FIELD. THE CAUSE OF LOSS OF POWER HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR20LA040](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR20LA040), Dec 5, 2019: Vans RV 6 (N616RV), Pima, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined based on the available evidence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
