## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

STUDENT PILOT AND CFI WERE ATTEMPTING TO LAND. THE CFI DETERMINED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH RUNWAY LEFT, HE ORDERED A GO AROUND TO THE STUDENT. AS THE AIRCRAFT WAS CLIMBING OUT, THE CFI DETERMINED THAT THEY WOULD NOT CLEAR TREES AT THE END OF RUNWAY. THE CFI TOOK CONTROL AND ATTEMPTED TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO DEPART OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED IN THE SOFT MUD DAMAGING THE PROP & THE NOSE GEAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA20CA111](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA20CA111), Dec 23, 2019: Piper PA28 (N5792U), Hanson, MA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor's delayed remedial action, which resulted in his decision to perform an off field landing and the airplane's subsequent impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
