## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT ON A CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT FROM BJC TO OGA, INTENDED TO CONDUCT A LOW APPROACH ONLY DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND TURBULENCE. WHILE DESCENDING TO TRAFFIC PATTERN ALTITUDE, THE AIR SMOOTHED OUT AND THE PILOT DECIDED TO DO A TOUCH AND GO. PILOT FAILED TO LOWER LANDING GEAR. PILOT STATED THAT HE DID NOT HEAR A GEAR WARNING HORN. AIRPLANE BRIEFLY TOUCHED DOWN, AND PILOT IMMEDIATELY INITIATED A GO AROUND AT THE FIRST SCRAPING SOUNDS. PILOT LOWERED THE LANDED GEAR AND LANDED TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE. PROP TIPS WERE BENT, ONE ANTENNAE WAS DAMAGED, AND MINOR SKIN DAMAGE TO BELLY OF AIRPLANE.

THE INCIDENT WAS NOT REPORTED BY THE PILOT. BECAUSE OF THE DISTRACTION CAUSED BY THE GUSTY WINDS AND TURBULENCE, AND THE PILOT'S CHANGE IN PLANS REGARDING LANDING VERSUS LOW APPROACH AT OGA, A BEFORE LANDING CHECK WAS NOT COMPLETED. THE PILOT WAS COUNSELED ON THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCIDENT/INCIDENT REPORTING AND TECHNIQUES FOR MANAGING DISTRACTIONS AND DEVELOPING GOOD HABIT PATTERNS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
