## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT PICKED UP AIRCRAFT FROM KBTF AFTER HAVING MAINTENANCE WORK DONE ON LEFT WINGTIP FUEL TANK, MECHANIC STATED THAT AIRPLANE ONLY HAD 2.5 GALLONS FUEL IN THAT TANK. PILOT WAS AWARE OF FUEL STATE BUT DID NOT TAKE ANY ADDITIONAL GAS AT KBTF BEFORE DEPARTING FOR KOGD. ALL RADIO TRANSMISSIONS WERE ROUTINE, CLEARED TO LAND AT KOGD, TOWER WENT TO VERIFY ALL 3 LANDING GEAR DOWN, AND NOTICED AIRPLANE MAKE A HARD LEFT AND DESCEND. OTHER WITNESSES ALSO DESCRIBED AN APPARENT LEFT YAW, AND A ROLL TO THE LEFT BEFORE ENTERING A STEEP DESCENT AND IMPACTING TERRAIN. AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED AND PILOT WAS KILLED. PILOT LOGBOOKS DESTROYED IN POSTCRASH FIRE. NTSB STILL INVESTIGATING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR20FA065](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR20FA065), Jan 15, 2020: Cessna T310 (N5805M), Roy, UT, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s inadequate preflight fuel planning and fuel management, which resulted in a total loss of power to the left engine due to fuel exhaustion. Also causal was the pilot's failure to follow…

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
