THE STUDENT PILOT FLYING SOLO WAS ATTEMPTING TO EXECUTE A 180 DEG TURN TO THE LEFT PRIOR TO LANDING THE HELICOPTER ON THE RAMP. THE HELICOPTER ENTERED AN UNCONTROLLABLE SPIN TO THE LEFT STRIKING AN AIRCRAFT TIED DOWN ON THE RAMP AND ULTIMATELY COLLIDING WITH THE CORNER OF A HANGAR BEFORE COMING TO REST ON IT?S LEFT SIDE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN20CA064](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN20CA064), Jan 21, 2020: Guimbal Cabri G2 (N715RK), Independence, IA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to maintain helicopter control while maneuvering to land, which resulted in impact with an airplane and a hangar.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
